Rami has a BS degree in pharmacy and has worked in ophthalmology for four years. On his days off, Rami enjoys sports, music, travelling, and spending some time with family and friends.

Clinical Data Quality Associate

Chelsea is a Clinical Data Quality Associate. She has been working in the clinical research field for 7 years and has been in the ophthalmology field for 10 years. Before joining Lexitas, Chelsea worked with Syneos Health, Wake Forest Health Network Ophthalmology, Cornerstone Eye Care, and Virginia Eye Consultants. She graduated from the Duke University Eye Center Ophthalmic Technician Program in 2009 and obtained her COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) certification following graduation. In her free time Chelsea enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband, 2 daughters and goldendoodle Luna Belle.

Susan Altman
Clinical Research Coordinator

Susan started with Lexitas in April 2018. She has over 14 years of Executive Assistant/Office Management experience with the last six years spent in the pharmaceutical industry focused in ophthalmology. Her previous experience included Clearside Biomedical, Envisia Therapeutics and Aerie Pharmaceuticals. Outside of work Susan enjoys circuit training classes and spending time with her family.

Melissa Alvidrez
Project Director

Melissa Alvidrez is a Project Director. Melissa has been in the Clinical Research industry for 20 years. Before joining Lexitas she worked for PPD, PRA, Abbott, INC Research and Premier Research. Melissa has her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture as well as a Master of Science in Health Services and Research. In her free time Melissa likes to read, travel and spend time with her husband and their 4 children.

Elizabeth Ambe

Senior Clinical Lead

Elizabeth is a Senior Clinical Lead who has been working in the clinical research industry for 8 years. She has worked with MD Anderson Cancer Center, Medpace, Covance, and TFS Health Science. Elizabeth has a B.S. in Health Science from Stephen F. Austin State University and an MBA from the University of Houston. In her spare time Elizabeth likes to spend time with her son, hang out with family and friends, and explore new places in the Houston area.

Justin is a Clinical Lead. He has been working in the clinical research industry for almost 9 years. Before joining Lexitas Justin worked with PRA Health Sciences, Syneos Health and CPI Global CRO. When he is not working Justin likes to play basketball, tennis, and golf, playing cards with his family, watching sports with friends and spending time outside.

Teresa Anile
Quality Assurance Manager

Teresa has worked in the clinical research industry since 2015 when she joined Lexitas. Teresa’s prior experience was in hospitality and sales. She has owned and managed several Durham, NC restaurants. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. Outside of the office, Teresa enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and running.

Peyton Bailey

Peyton Bailey is a Clinical Research Coordinator.  She is new to the clinical research industry.  Peyton has a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Texas A&M University.  When she is not at work, Peyton enjoys spending time with friends and family and her sweet puppy, Charlie!

Kim is a Clinical Research Associate who has 6 years of experience working in the clinical research field. Before joining Lexitas, Kim worked with LabCorp/Covance and Minnesota Eye Consultants. Jackquelyne Bell

Jackquelyne is a Clinical Research Coordinator. She has been working in the clinical research industry for 9 years. Jackquelyne previously worked with Duke PDC and Firozvi Research. She is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and is currently working on her BBA. Outside of work Jackquelyne enjoys traveling, visiting museums, spending time with her family and attending motor-speed events.

Bridgette Bergin is a Project Director. Bridgette has been working in the Clinical Research industry for 10 years, having worked with a number of organizations. Before joining Lexitas Bridgette worked for PRA Health Sciences, PPD Pharmaceutical Product Development, CPC Clinical Research and DaVita Clinical Research. Bridgette has a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In her free time Bridgette likes to mountain bike, road bike, and going to the movies. She also loves spending time with her daughter and her friends. Travel is a passion f Bridgette’s as she enjoys getting to learn about new cultures, food and more while exploring the world.

Amanda is an Associate Study Manager. Amanda has been working as a nurse in the Clinical Research industry for 4.5 years. Amanda previously worked at UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Amanda has her BSN and CCRN. In her free time Amanda likes to run, shop, bake and spend time with her husband and their 3 children.

Shelby Boris

Shelby Boris is a Clinical Study Manager with 5+ years of experience in the clinical research industry.  Before joining Lexitas, Shelby worked in project management at Premier Research.  She was also a Study Coordinator and Ophthalmic Technician at a retina specialist group, North Carolina Retina Associates. Shelby has a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. In her free time, Shelby enjoys going on bike rides and long boarding. She also enjoys travelling, live music and trying new recipes.

Amy Brown is a Clinical Research Coordinator. She is a registered pharmacist with over 20 years of community care experience serving in numerous roles including management and company startup.  Amy received a BS Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has a certification in treating asthma patients. Outside of work, she enjoys the beach, hiking, reading, cooking and spending time with family.

Cathy Bryson
Clinical Study Manager

Cathy Bryson is a Clinical Study Manager with over 8.5 years of clinical research experience. She began her career at IQVIA where she worked as a clinical trial assistant, a CRA, and Senior CRA prior to joining Lexitas in the fall of 2019. Cathy received her BS in Biology from the University of the South: Sewanee. On her days off, she likes to run and hike with her yellow lab, Bodhi. She also loves to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.

Amanda is a Clinical Lead who has been working in the clinical research field for 5 years. Before joining Lexitas Amanda worked at Medpace, Be the Match, and at the University of Michigan. Amy is the Manager of Clinical Monitoring. She has been in the clinical research field for 14 years. Amy has previously worked with Parexel, i3 Research, InVentiv, and Syneos. Amy has a B.A. in English/German and an M.S. of Clinical Research and Product Development. In her spare time Amy likes to run, walk with friends, and spend time with her family.

Brittany Chung

Senior Project Manager, Drug Development

Brittany is a Senior Project Manager who has been working in the clinical research industry for 6 years. Prior to joining the Lexitas team, Brittany worked with Doheny Image Reading Center. She has a B.S. in Biology from UC Riverside and a M.S. in Biological Sciences from Drexel University. In her spare time Brittany likes to travel, try new restaurants, and is the founder of the non-profit organization “Cures of Colors.”

Jinny Conley
Clinical Lead

Jinny Conley is a Clinical Lead. Jinny has worked in the worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 14 years. She began her career at Piedmont Research Center, then Liquidia Technologies, Envisia Therapeutics, and Recipharm Laboratories, prior to joining Lexitas.  The three years at Envisia Therapeutics, Jinny worked in clinical operations focusing on the treatment of glaucoma. Jinny has an BS in Animal Science from N.C. State and her MBA from East Carolina University. In her free time, Jinny enjoys spoiling her dog, Sam, knitting, practicing and attending teacher training for Pilates, and attending outdoor concerts.

Tameka Cooper
Clinical Research Coordinator

Tameka Cooper is a Clinical Research Coordinator and has been working in the clinical research industry for 12 years. Prior to starting at Lexitas, Tameka was the Primary Study Coordinator at Firozvi Research LLC, conducting ophthalmic research while serving as Operations Manager at HRF Inc., Specialty Blood Plasma & Coagulation. Tameka has an A.A.S in Clinical Trials Research from Durham Tech Community College, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Trials Research from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. When she is not working Tameka enjoys traveling with family and friends, cooking, and working on creative projects.

Jennifer Daniels
Project Director

She has worked in the clinical research industry for 16 years and has been with Lexitas since May 2016.  Ten years have been spent in project management along with five years of onsite monitoring.  Jennifer started her career at Quintiles and then worked at PAREXEL prior to joining Lexitas.  She received her AA in Psychology from Peace College in Raleigh, NC and her BA in Psychology at NC State University in Raleigh, NC.  On her days off, she is chauffeuring her daughters from one activity to the next.

Ariana Davari
Clinical Research Associate

She has worked in the clinical research industry for two and a half years and has been with Lexitas since June, 2014. She received her BS in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. On her days off she likes to go hiking, spoil her dog Chloe and attempting DIY projects.

Elicia Dellinger

Clinical Research Coordinator

Elicia is a Clinical Research Coordinator who has been working in clinical research for over a year. She has worked with Duke Eye Center (Clinical Research Unit), Taylor Retina Center, and Carolina Eye Associates in the past. Elicia has an MPA, a B.S. in Biology, and is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and a Certified Ophthalmic Scribe. Elicia enjoys cooking, baking, spending time with her family and catching up on the latest Netflix shows in her free time.

Kim Dengler
Finance Coordinator

Kim Dengler has worked in the clinical research industry since February 2019.  She has worked at H. Devan Brown as well as a User Analyst at Duke University Medical Center.  Kim received a B.S. in Information Systems and Operations Management from UNC Greensboro.  Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending time on her farm with her family and her 3 horses, 3 miniature donkeys, 3 dogs and 2 cats!

Ryan DeWolf 

Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Ryan is a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator who has been working in the clinical research field for 8 years. Before joining Lexitas Ryan worked at the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Delaware, Massachusetts General Hospital, Emerson Hospital, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training as well as a Master of Science in Health Rehabilitation Science. When he is not at work Ryan likes to spend his time with friends, family, and his two dogs. He also loves working on projects around the house and co-owns a restaurant with his family he helps run.

Meghan Francis
Associate Study Manager

Meghan Francis is an Associate Study Manager.  She has worked for 9 years in research including 4 years in clinical research.  Meghan worked previously at Discovery Life Sciences, Medpace, UAB, and the University of Iowa.   Prior to clinical research, she worked in benchwork science focusing on Alzheimer's Disease and renal cancer.  Meghan has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from West Liberty University and MPH from Des Moines University.  When she is not at work, Meghan enjoys hiking, shopping, traveling, and acquiring new houseplants.

Shannon Franks
Business Development

Shannon has worked in the pharma and clinical research industry for 17 years and has been with Lexitas since January, 2013.  Seven years have been in the research and development of eye health products as well as project management.  Shannon started her career at Trimeris, Inc, then Inspire Pharmaceuticals and Bioventus, prior to joining Lexitas.  Shannon has an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration/Secretarial Science from Louisburg College. On her days off, you can find Shannon spending time with family and friends, reading a book, binge watching Netflix, or decorating extensively at multiple homes during Christmas time.

Emilee Fulcher
Clinical Study Manager II

She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 12 years and has been with Lexitas since March 2013.  Seven of these years have been spent in clinical research.  Emilee started her career at Inspire Pharmaceuticals and then worked at UCB Biosciences prior to joining Lexitas.  She received her BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  On her days off, you can find Emilee biking and spending time at the park with her children.

Prateek Gajwani
Clinical Study Manager

Prateek is a Clinical Study Manager. He has been working in the clinical research field for 11 years. Before joining Lexitas Prateek worked for Emmes, the Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins and the Johns Hopkins Division of Nuclear Medicine. He has a M.S. in Biotechnology and Regulatory Affairs from Johns Hopkins University. He is also an ACRP certified Clinical Research Coordinator. When he is not working Prateek enjoys listening to audiobooks, working out, watching documentaries and hanging out with friends.

Derek Gazis

Senior Biostatistician

Derek is a Senior Biostatistician who is new to the clinical research industry. Derek previously worked with Target RWE. He has a B.A. in Statistics from Columbia University and a M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Outside of work Derek likes to read, listen to music, study trivia, and play Nintendo games.

Senior Principal Statistical Programmer

JoAnn Gorden is a Senior Principal Statistical Programmer. She has been working in the clinical research industry for 33 years. JoAnn previously worked with Inspire, UCB, Astra-Zeneca and Quintiles before joining Lexitas. JoAnn has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In her free time JoAnn enjoys reading, painting, taking road trips, going the movies and going for walks.

Lindsay Grier
Clinical Research Coordinator

Lindsay Grier is a Clinical Research Coordinator.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 1 year.  Lindsay started her career at IQVIA prior to joining Lexitas in May 2019.  Lindsay has a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Research as well as Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Certifications for Human and Biomedical Research, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Health Information Privacy and Security (HIPS) for Clinical Investigators.  When Lindsay is not at work, she enjoys reading all kinds of books, as well as being outdoors. I am very involved in my church, and my husband and I enjoy seeing the latest movies and trying new restaurants.

Ashley is a Clinical Research Coordinator who is new to clinical research. She has previously worked with Truist, The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Teleflex Medical, and BCBS-NC. Amy Hennigan

Amy Hennigan is a Clinical Research Coordinator. Amy has been in the Clinical Research industry for 2 years. Before joining Lexitas, Amy was working for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s VIR department as the product supervisor, coordinating investigational devices for the Aortic Graft Trials and Prostrate Artery Embolization Trials. Amy started her career in radiology, as a technologist at a hospital in Pennsylvania. She has an A.A.S in Radiography and a B.S in Healthcare Sciences from Southern New Hampshire University. In her spare time, Amy likes to ride horses, ski, and spend time with her husband as well as with their horse Gabriel and dog Tully.

Cierra is a Clinical Trial Associate. She is new to the clinical research field. Cierra has a Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management as well as her Masters in Business Administration. Linda Hong

Clinical Research Coordinator

Linda Hong is a Clinical Research Coordinator. Linda is new to the Clinical Research industry. Linda worked with a couple of organizations before joining Lexitas, including, UCB biopharma, where she utilized CRISPR based technology to identify novel drug targets, improve antibody drugs, and contribute to development of gene therapy platform. Linda also worked at the Duke Sequencing and Genomic Technologies Core Facility, Duke Center for Genomic and Computational Biology, and Duke Center for Human Genome Variation. Linda has a M.S. in Biotechnology from John Hopkins. In her free time, she likes to lift weights, do yoga, watercolor paint, cook, and find new music.

Katie Hope

Katie is a Project Lead who has been working in the clinical research industry for 3 years. Prior to joining Lexitas, Katie worked for Syneos Health. Katie graduation from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Outside of work Katie likes to play the bagpipes.

Carrie is a Clinical Study Manager who has over 20 years of experience in clinical research. Carrie has worked with Trial Runners, Bergstrom Eye Research, DP Clinical Inc., and PRACS Institute in the past. She has a B.S. in Business Administration and is a CCRC. Ryan is a Project Director. He has been working in the clinical research industry for over 20 years. Before joining Lexitas Ryan worked with PRA Health Sciences and Quintiles. He holds a B.S. in Economics and in Health Information Management along with a PMP Certification. When he is not working Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, and biking and watching his favorite sports teams the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Lara Kelly

Lara Kelly is a Clinical Study Manager.  She has worked in the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry for over 9 years. Lara began career at Liquidia Technologies as a scientist before moving to their clinical operations group. She worked in clinical operations at Axovant Gene Therapies focused on rare pediatric diseases, prior to joining Lexitas.  Lara has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Campbell University.  When she is not working, Lara enjoys the beach, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Nikita Leonov

Associate Study Manager

Nikita is an Associate Study Manager. He has been working in the clinical research industry for almost 3 years. Nikita previously worked with Astrazeneca and Emmes, LLC. He has a B.S. in Biochemistry from Dickinson College and a M.S. in Biotechnology from Georgetown University. In his free time Nikita enjoys playing tennis, going to concerts and watching soccer and hockey.

Stephanie McKinney
Senior Manager, Finance

She has worked in Accounts Receivable/Payable for 10+ years and has been with Lexitas since August of 2014. She previously worked in clinical research for a year and a half at Neeman Medical International and interned for a year and a half at GlaxoSmithKline. Stephanie McKinney has a degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University. On her days off you can find her going on adventures with her husband and two children.

Judith Mcowiti
Clinical Data Lead

Judith Mcowiti is a Clinical Data Lead.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for over 3.5 years.  Prior to joining Lexitas, Judith worked at Lords Pharmaceuticals as a Pharmaceutical Representative, University of Texas Rio Grande as a Research Assistant/ Web Developer for Center for Distance Learning, Wellness Health group, and Katy ISD as a Substitute Teacher.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Zoology from Kenyattta University in Nairobi, Kenya as well as Master’s in Science in Computer Science from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  When Judith is not working, she loves reading books, watching movies especially Classics, Disney and Marvel movies with her family, visiting with friends. She enjoys meeting new people, interior decor, trying new foods, new technology and planning visits to exotic places like Casablanca.

Beatrice Mengich

Beatrice is a Senior Clinical Research Associate. She has been in the clinical research industry for 12 years. Beatrice started her career in clinical research as an intern at GlaxoSmithKline in RTP and went on to work in CROs and academia supporting local and global trials prior to joining Lexitas in February 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Research from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC and a Master of Science in Clinical Research Administration from University of Liverpool in England, UK. When off the road, Beatrice spends her time with family and friends.

Beth Miller

Beth is a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. She has been working in the clinical research field for 5 years, having previously spent 6 years in clinic as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant before moving to research. She has worked with Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Southeastern Retina Associates, and Harbor Eyecare Center. Beth has an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and a B.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Southern Maine. Outside of work Beth likes to adventure with her family, watch Tennessee Vols games, go to the beach, attend outdoor concerts, and watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Daniel Mulligan

Daniel Mulligan is a Clinical Trial Assistant.  He is new to the clinical research industry but interned at Lexitas in 2018.  Daniel has a Political Science degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  When he is not at work, Daniels plays basketball, travels to see new places, hikes, and reads!

Clinical Trial Assistant

Lee is a Clinical Trial Assistant. He has been in the clinical research industry for over a year. He previously worked in the UNC Chapel Hill Geochemistry Lab, the UNC Chapel Hill ReCCAP Covid-19 Testing study, and the UNC Chapel Hill Carolina Together Testing Program Covid-19 Testing Lab. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.S in Environmental Geoscience. Katelyn Olson

Project Lead

Katelyn Olson is a Project Lead. She has been working in the Clinical Research industry for 3 years and has had the pleasure of working for Nuventra, Clinipace, Syneos, and IQVIA. Prior to joining the Clinical Research industry, Katelyn worked as an educator within the Wake County Public School System for 8 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Math/Science Education from North Carolina State University. When she is not working Katelyn likes to go to local parks, with her family, for hikes and to enjoy the fresh air.

Christine Oman

Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Christine is a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. She has been in the clinical research industry for over 4 years. Before joining Lexitas Christine worked for Syneos Health, as a Project Specialist, IQVIA, as a Clinical Trial Assistant II, and for UNC Chapel Hill, as a Registered Dental Hygienist/Research Assistant. Christine has a BA from UNC Wilmington. When she is not working Christine enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, hiking with their dog, going for bike rides, and traveling to the beach and mountains.

Andrew Pucker

Senior Director, Drug Development

Dr. Pucker is the Sr. Director of Drug Development, and he is a practicing optometrist. Dr. Pucker started his clinical research career in 2008. Dr. Pucker earned his BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and he earned his OD, MS, and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University. His independent research career focused on dry eye disease, contact lenses, and myopia development. He has authored about 40 peer-reviewed publications and about 140 editor reviewed columns. Dr. Pucker is a Fellow and Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry, Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association. He has also received a number of other honors, which include two William C. Ezell Fellowships, the Irvin M. and Beatrice Borish Award, the Association of Schools & Colleges of Optometry’s Rising Star Award and being named as an Emerging Vision Scientist by the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research. Dr. Pucker has previously held academic positions at The Ohio State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pucker enjoys spending his free time with his family, traveling, and cooking.

Michelle Radtke
Clinical Data Coordinator

Michelle is a Clinical Data Coordinator who has been working in the clinical research industry for almost a year. Michelle worked with Idaho National Laboratories and Energy Laboratories Inc. before joining Lexitas. She has a B.S. in Microbiology from Montana State University and a M.S. in Microbiology from Texas Tech University. Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Sue Rains

Sue Ellen Rains is Manager, Human Resources for Lexitas.  Sue worked in the dental and health care industry for over 20 years. Eight years were spent working in as a dental hygienist reviewer for dental group practice accreditations and credentialing. Then she served as the operations lead for an orthopedic medical device sales group for more than 10 years.  She started with Lexitas in March 2017.  Sue has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene from FTCC and studied business administration at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. On her days off, you can find Sue spending time with family and friends, walking for miles and miles in area parks, and trying her hand at floral design for parties and celebrations.

Laida Robles
Clinical Data Lead

Edelaida (Laida) Robles is a Clinical Data Lead.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 13 years.  Laida started her career at Ovation Research Group, which was then acquired by ICON Clinical Research, prior to joining Lexitas in November 2018.  On her days off, Laida spends time chasing after her 2 ½ year old son, as well as visiting with family and friends.

Rocio Rodriguez

Clinical Research Associate

Rocio is a Clinical Research Associate who has been working in the clinical research industry for 9 years. Previously, Rocio has worked with North Valley Eye Medical Group and Vision Care Medical Group. Rocio is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. Rocio likes to play sports and spend time with her kids when she is not working.

Cheryl Ryan

Clinical Study Manager II

Cheryl is a Clinical Study Manager who has been working in the clinical research industry for 25 years. Before joining Lexitas, Cheryl worked with PPD, Glaukos, and National Ophthalmic Research Institute at Retina Consultants of SWFL. She has a B.S. in Health Education. When she is not working, Cheryl likes to hang out with her family, read, go boating, and paint.

Theresa San Juan
Clinical Research Coordinator

Theresa San Juan is a Clinical Research Coordinator.  She has worked in the clinical research industry since 2016. Theresa started her career at Duke Clinical Research Institute prior to joining Lexitas in July 2019.  Theresa has a Biology degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  When she is not at work, Theresa enjoys any of kind of outdoor sport or activity especially running, hiking, biking, and snowboarding as well as loves to tag along to her husband's DJ gigs around town.

Rob Sandefur

Senior Principal Database Programmer

Rob is a Senior Principal Database Programmer who has been working in the clinical research field for 20 years. He has worked with PPD, Humana, and TARGET RWE in the past. Rob has a B.A. in Economics and a minor in French. In his free time Rob enjoys running, cooking, traveling, teasing his nieces, and laminating random objects.

Alisen Santer

Clinical Lead

Alisen is a Clinical Lead who has over 13 years of experience in the clinical research field. Alisen has previously worked with PRACS Institute and Trial Runners. Alisen has a B.A. in Sociology from Concordia College. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and swimming at the lake, reading, cooking, and watching movies.

Ben Schaberg

Medical Writer Associate, Drug Development

Ben is a Medical Writer Associate. Ben is new to the clinical research industry. Prior to joining Lexitas, Ben worked in U.S. immigration law and federal compliance. He worked for Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak, & Stewart, P.C. and for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, International Student and Scholar Services. Ben graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Dramatic Arts. When he is not working, Ben enjoys cooking and playing tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons.

Mike Schiewe
Director, Business Development & Site Relations

He has worked in the biopharmaceutical and clinical research industry for 20 years. Fifteen of those years have been in the research and development of eye health products. Mike has been with Lexitas from the beginning as a consultant; however, recently joined the company as a permanent employee in August 2016. Mike started his career at PPD Development, and then moved onto Inspire Pharmaceuticals, followed by 5 years as an Independent Clinical Research Consultant before joining Lexitas. Mike has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from North Carolina State University and Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. On his days off, you can find Mike spending time with his family, cycling, kayaking or out on the golf course.

Maryn Schwab
Clinical Research Coordinator

Maryn Schwab is a Clinical Research Coordinator.  Maryn has a Bachelor of Science with a concentration of ecology/evolutionary biology from The University of Tennessee.  Maryn started her career at CVS pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician prior to joining Lexitas in September 2020.  When she is not at work, Maryn enjoys hiking the Smokies, kayaking, camping, and weekend trips to explore new cities!

Osama Shafiq

Project Director

Osama is a Project Director. He has been working in the clinical research industry for 14 years. Osama previously worked with Abbott and Parexel before joining Lexitas. He has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University. Outside of work Osama likes to spend time with family and friends, go to the gym, and attend NC State sporting events.

Lisa Sharp

Clinical Lead

Lisa is a Clinical Lead. She has been working in clinical research for 16 years. Before joining Lexitas, Lisa worked with Stanford University, Duke University, John Hopkins University, Ocular Imaging Research and Reading Center, and TG Therapeutics. Lisa has an MBA and is a CCRP and COA. Outside of work Lisa likes to hike with her dog, write short stories, and go kayaking.

Neeli Sharrett is an Associate Director, Clinical Technology.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for over 13 years and has been with Lexitas since February 2017.  Neeli has extensive experience in clinical trial technologies – including randomization and drug management, clinical supplies logistics, imaging, eCOA, EDC, and CTMS systems.  She worked at ICON Clinical Research prior to joining Lexitas. Neeli will be involved in the selection and implementation of several technologies.  She received her BA in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin.  On her days off, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as cooking and handcrafting jewelry.

Halie Sklanka
Clinical Research Associate

Halie has worked in the clinical research industry for over 4 years.  She started her career as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Georgia Retina, PC in Atlanta and the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon.  Halie received a BS in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling, and checking out new restaurants.

Jan Stephens
Senior Clinical Research Associate

Jan Stephens is a Senior Clinical Research Associate.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 19 years and has been with Lexitas since July 2014 as a contractor then became a permanent employee on June 1, 2017.  After 20 years working as a Registered Nurse and performing bedside patient care, burn-out took its toll.  Not wanting to work with patients, a car dealer was courting her to come to work with them.  As fate would have it, a friend that worked in research reached out and the rest is history.  She received her AS degree in Nursing from Dalton Junior College in Dalton, GA.  On her days off, if she is not spoiling her 2 granddaughters, you might find her gardening, swimming, working on a art project, or more than likely her favorite past-time shopping.

Silke Thode

Senior Director, Drug Development

Silke is the Senior Director of Drug Development. Silke has been working in the clinical research industry for 17 years. Silke previously worked with ViaLase, Inc., Advanced Bionics, LLC, Glaukos Corporation, Aptiv Solutions and Integrium, LLC. She has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Cologne. Outside of work Silke likes to travel, hike and practice photography.

Angela Town
Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Angela is a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. She has been working in the clinical research industry for 4 years. Prior to coming to Lexitas Angela worked for Silverstein Eye Centers, Hunkeler Eye Institute, and Discover Vision Centers. Angela has a JCAHPO COA certification and a OSC certification. In her free time Angela likes to spend time with family, go boating on the lake, play with her dog and volunteering in her local community.

Clinical Data Programmer

Candice is a Clinical Data Programmer. She has been working in the clinical research industry for over 6 years. Candice has worked with ICON Clinical Research, Empyrean Benefit Solutions, Synhrgy HR Technologies, Mercer HR Consulting, and EC Outlook Commerce in the past. She is a certified Microsoft Solution Developer. Outside of work Candice is passionate about traveling and exploring new places. She also enjoys interior design and trying new restaurants with family and friends.

Olivia is a Clinical Trial Assistant. This is the first time Olivia has worked in the clinical research field. Olivia previously worked at LabCorp before joining Lexitas. Olivia has a B.S. in Biology. When she is not at work Olivia enjoys reading, playing video games, hanging out with friends and family and playing with her cat.

Courtney is a Clinical Trial Assistant. She has been in the clinical research industry for almost a year. Before joining Lexitas, Courtney worked for LabConnect as a SampleGISTICS™ Coordinator. She has a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in clinical research. Courtney enjoys exploring the great outdoors, camping, hiking, traveling, and doing yoga when she is not at work.

Vineela Varikuti
Clinical Data Quality Associate

Vineela Varikuti is a Clinical Data Quality Associate.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 13 years. She previously worked as a Research Coordinator at the Ross Eye Institute in New York and Boston Image Reading Center as well as a Graduate Research Assistant and the University of Massachusetts prior to joining Lexitas in July 2019.  Vineela has a Bachelor of Clinical Optometry, PhD in Vision Sciences as well as a MBA in Finance and Healthcare.  When she is not a work, Vineela enjoys reading books and spending time with family and friends.

Hayley White
Clinical Study Manager

Hayley White has worked in the clinical research industry since 2010.  Her experience includes the role of Clinical Research Coordinator for psychopharmacological and behavioral intervention clinical trials in PTSD populations within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  She has also worked in the role of Human Research Protections Program Coordinator for the Durham VA Health Care System. Hayley received a B.A. in Psychology from St. Andrews University and a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Caitlin Whitehead
Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Caitlin Whitehead is a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 1 year. Caitlin started her career at IQVIA as a Clinical Trial Assistant prior to joining Lexitas in July 2019.  Caitlin has a BS in Clinical Research, UNCW as well as a BA in Global Studies (Health), Appalachian State University.  When she is not at work, Caitlin enjoys anything outdoors – the beach, hiking, disc golf, traveling!

Kim started with Lexitas in November 2018. She worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator for NC State College of Veterinary Medicine for over 10 years. She has also worked as a Clinical Trials Assistant for IQVIA in various therapeutic areas. In her spare time, Kim likes to spend time with her Whippets, knitting, and attending outdoor concerts.

Data Management Project Manager

Christine is a Data Management Project Manager. Christine has been working in the clinical research industry for 18 years. She has previously worked with Axio Research and Cytel. Christine has an MBS. In her spare time Christine enjoys contra dancing, hiking, and spending time with her son. Before her son, she was also known to build art installations at community festivals.

Jenny is a Clinical Study Manager who has been in the clinical research industry for 20 years. Prior to joining Lexitas, Jenny worked with Syneos, Elligo, HealthCore, Quintiles/IQVIA, and NC Clinical Research. She is a North Carolina native with a B.S. in Zoology from North Carolina State University. Outside of work, Jenny’s hobbies include spending time with family, reading with her book club, eating dumplings, bingeing on true crime, and screaming real loud when someone says today’s secret word.

Lauren Wright is a Clinical Study Manager.  She has worked in the clinical research industry for 5 years.  She previously worked at GSK, Nuventra, inVentiv Health, Syneos Health, ViiV prior to joining Lexitas in August 2020.  Tiffany has a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.  When she is not a work, Lauren enjoys hiking and travelling!

Before joining Lexitas, Sarah worked as a nonfiction editor with Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, the Globe Pequot Press, two online technology journals, and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. She has a B.A. in English. Outside of work Sarah enjoys traveling, reading, playing board and card games with her family, and volunteering with charitable outreach programs in her community.
